Classes will be offered in Music and Movement and Singing and Orff instruments.
In the Music & Movement class children will participate in many rhythmic and movement activities. Classes nurture imagination and exploration, leading the child to be creative and discover the body as an expressive musical instrument. Students will sing, play rhythm instruments and dance creatively in many playful activities. This class will lay the foundation for future musical learning.
The Orff musical approach uses rudimentary activities to create music with children. This includes singing in groups, chanting rhymes and playing instrumental music on a variety of xylophones. The music generated is for the most part improvisational with a strong tonal construction. These activities build confidence and instill a process of creative thinking. In addition, the children will make music together as a group, which reinforces the joy of ensemble playing and group cohesion.
